Q: Your debut, Desire & Protection, is described as a slow-burn psychological suspense. What does that genre mean to you personally?
A: Slow-burn psychological suspense is about living inside the tension and not rushing past it. Life doesn’t hand us answers neatly tied with a bow. It unfolds in layers of trust, longing, and consequence.
Q: The title Desire & Protection is rich with tension. How did you land on it?
A: The title almost named itself. Those two words carry the push and pull that defines the entire story. We are all torn between what we want and what we need to feel safe. For Roman, the desire pulls him in, but the protection pushes him away.
Q: How did your past career shape your voice as a writer?
A: I spent years managing luxury boutiques which meant every detail mattered. How the scent of a room could transport you. How someone carried themselves. What experience was given and why it was so important. That kind of constant observation trained me to write characters with layers. My career taught me to read people more effectively, and now I put that skill on the page with empathy and detail.
Q: Your personal aesthetic is so distinct. How does your visual style play into your author brand?
A: I see my brand the way I see a set design for a film. Every shade, font, and photograph is a choice that sets the mood before you read a word. My visual world is cinematic because my stories are cinematic.
Q: How do you balance ambition with your personal life?
A: I feel like one feeds the other. I don’t chase balance as much anymore. I chase alignment. When my priorities are aligned, everything else flows more gracefully.
Q: What do readers not realize about the woman behind the book?
A: That I’m not sitting in a perfect ivory tower writing thrillers. I’m very human. I laugh too hard, I over analyze, I sometimes burn cookies. Even while I write about shadows, I hold tightly to light. Deep down, I’m a woman who still believes in love, family, and building a home filled with warmth.
Q: What inspired you to start the Marsala’s Inner Circle community?
A: I wanted readers to feel like they were part of the secret and not standing outside of it. Books are intimate. you hold them close. The Inner Circle extends that intimacy beyond the page. It’s like inviting readers into my living room, a safe and sacred space where story and connection meet.
Q: What’s been the most surreal moment of this journey so far?
A: Seeing my book cover for the first time. It was the moment my private world became public. That image was not just art. It was proof that what lived in my head for so long finally had a face.
Q: What’s the most surprising reaction you’ve received to the book so far?
A: The number of people who told me they saw themselves in the most unexpected places. It reminded me that suspense does not just live in crime scenes, it lives in relationships, in longing, and in the quiet ways people love, hurt, and protect each other.
Q: How do you define success now?
A: Success is not only a list or an accolade. It’s when my words travel into someone else’s private world and stay there. To me, that is legacy.
Q: Will you ever write a memoir?
A: Maybe one day. For now, I’d rather let my characters bleed for me. Fiction gives me freedom to tell small bits of truths without giving the world my diary.
Q: Are you planning on slowing down after this launch?
A: I don’t really know how to slow down. I love keeping myself busy. If I’m not busy, I’ll create work for myself. I once spent 60 hours decorating, cooking, and baking for a Halloween party while managing a full-time management role. Creating beauty and joy in everything I do keeps me energized.
Q: What advice would you give to women trying to build something of their own?
A: Start by knowing your worth in God’s eyes. Everything else flows from that. Confidence isn’t arrogance, it’s honoring the gifts you were given. Don’t chase approval. Build with faith, with love, and with grace. The right people will be drawn to the light you carry.
